“Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our frame;
He is mindful that we are but dust.” – Psalm 103:13-14 (NASB)
“How is your frame of mind?” We may well have difficulty answering this without some in-depth investigation into our soul. On whom or what are we trusting? If we consider ourselves to be saved by the grace of Jesus Christ we should be able to consider ourselves loved by God. Just as the psalmist David knew his life was fleeting, he also was convinced that it was by the Lord’s promises that he lived. Although redeemed by Christ on the basis of His sacrifice for our sins, we are physically frail as long as we live on this earth. God promises that He is aware of our frailty. God knows our hearts and He knows that we need help to please Him in obedience and worship. We can be comforted when we fail God. He knows that we will fall short. He knows the weaknesses of our frame. That is why we are assured of His compassion for us and all who fear Him. Such fear is generated within us by God’s awesome presence and character. God knows and keeps in mind that we are human and not yet transformed into what we will be in heaven.
